Jet Blue Airways today expanded its service in a way that's quite meaningful to many people in central and southern New England and Eastern New York.

As we previously told you, the airline starts daily service to SXM from SJU on November 17. Now it is adding daily nonstops from Hartford to SJU, which enables fast, easy connections to SXM from its San Juan focus city. The airline is now ticketing through 2/15 -- so if you haven't made winter reservations, now is the time. N. JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq: JBLU) today is pleased to announce plans to add a nonstop daily flight between Hartford's Bradley International Airport (BDL) and San Juan's Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU), effective January 2012. San Juan will be JetBlue's third nonstop destination offered from Bradley, New England's second-largest airport, in addition to its twice daily service to both Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, Fla.

JetBlue has grown 38 percent over the last year in Puerto Rico, and now offers more seats and more capacity (available seat miles) to and from the Commonwealth than any other airline. In Puerto Rico, JetBlue currently serves seven non-stop destinations from San Juan including: Boston; New York (JFK); Ft. Good news for St. Maarten as finally, after long legal battles, the old buildings at Mullet Bay Resort are being demolished and much of the materials will be recycled.

This is a welcome relief to residents and tourists since this has been an eyesore since Hurricane Louis in 1995.
We are all very pleased with this action and are looking forward to hearing about the reconstruction plans in the future.

Bahamas Real Estate Association (BREA) chief William Wong has issued a strong statement about non-Bahamian brokers selling real estate in the Bahamas.
Wong has urged banks and people to immediately stop using unconventional methods to sell real estate here. He said Bahamas property is being illegally auctioned online.
Wong pointed out that the real estate industry is reserved for Bahamians or permanent residents with the right to work. They must also hold a valid Bahamas Real Estate Association licence.
“It’s wrong, I cannot go to Florida and sell real estate.
“What they should have done is work through local agencies, but they think the Bahamas is another state of the U.S. and they could do whatever they like.”
The Nassau Guardian, in reporting the matter, said American companies are advertising auctions for Bahamas property to “bargain hunters” in New York.
One listing claims that 10 lots totaling 2.5 acres located on a Bahamas island will be offered to New York prospects for the first time.
The starting bid on seaside lots, valued at $595,000, will be $29,000 with each lot including 200 feet of beachfront, the ad claims.
Sales by auction are reportedly on the increase as a result of the U.S. mortgage meltdown with American lending institutions calling in bad loans.
While the process may seem innocent, Wong told The Guardian it’s outside Bahamas law.
“This is not their territory, this is our territory, our advantage and not theirs,” he said. . “These banks need to call the local contact, which is BREA, and ask them how to go about this.”
But it goes deeper. Real estate agents outside the Bahamas do not know the lay of the land and are not familiar with our laws.
The Bahamas is part of the Commonwealth and we inherited our legal system from Britain. The Bahamas makes its own laws.
Just as a Bahamas real estate broker does not know the ins and outs of U.S. law, the same is true in reverse to American brokers.
A local realtor knows the truth about property, including neighbourhood data, the geographic lay of the land and any pitfalls ^ such as land that’s below sea level and prone to flooding.
Be safe and use a Bahamas Real Estate Association licensed broker.

I just heard from a reliable source that tickets for tonight's concert on the beach at Mary's Boon are set at $350 per couple and you can get more attractive pricing for groups. We're talking about 2 major groups performing tonight right here on the island and there doesn't appear to be much of anything else going on.

I wasn't going to pay the initial price but I'm going to grab a few tickets for myself and some friends. The discounts for groups make the whole thing much more attractive.

I'm Stuck In The States

I've lived on the island of St. Maarten for many years and as a result of family issues in the states recently, I've been stuck in this freezing ass weather for 2 weeks.

If you only could experiece the wonderful bright, sunny, warm days in the Caribbean, you'd never want to live elsewhere.

But my family is important to me and I have to support them in a time of need.My wonderful daughter is in need of a bone marrow transplant and we're all up here in MI trying our best to get her well again.
